Sweet, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! These honey harissa chickpeas are so easy to whip up that you’ll end up making them… a lot. We topped them over some labneh but it can also work over some hummus or any other creamy dip. Don’t be afraid to use your hands so that you can scoop them out with some warm pita!
Chickpeas, 1 can (drained)
Harissa paste, 2-3 tbsp
Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 2 tbsp
Water, 2 tbsp
Honey, 1 tbsp
Kosher salt, ½ tsp
Labneh, 2 cups
Pita bread, warm
1. On a plate, spread the labneh and set aside.
2. In a preheated pan over medium heat, add the extra virgin olive oil followed by the drained chickpeas and kosher salt. Stir and sauté for several minutes
3. Once the chickpeas start to gain a little color, add the harissa paste and honey and keep stirring to mix them both well into the sautéeing chickpeas.
4. Add the water and keep stirring until a sauce is obtained. Bring the heat to low and simmer for 5 min. You can adjust the sauce’s thickness to your liking by adding more water and/or increasing the simmering time.
5. Turn the heat off on the chickpeas and immediately pour them over the labneh.
6. We highly recommend enjoying this with warm pita or naan bread.
