This addictive fried shishito appetizer with smoky harissa mayo will impress all your friends and the best part is that it’s incredibly easy to make. Just get some quality shishitos and the rest is probably in your pantry.
Ingredients
½ lb, Shishito Peppers
4 tbsp, Mayo
3 tbsp, Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tbsp, Harissa Paste
1 tbsp, Lemon Juice
1 tsp, Sesame Seeds, toasted
1 tsp, Sea Salt
1 tsp, Black Pepper
Directions
Wash all the shishitos, strain until the dripping stops and pat dry. Make sure they are very dry and that there’s no residual moisture, otherwise the peppers will dangerously splatter during the pan frying step.
- In a bowl, add in the mayo, harissa paste, lemon juice, and black pepper; whisk thoroughly until homogenous.
- In a large pan on medium heat, pour the evoo and dump in the shishito peppers.
Stir the shishitos consistently so that they fry evenly. This should take about 10 min or until they are golden.
- When done, transfer the shishitos directly to a bowl and toss with the sea salt.
- Pour the shishitos into a small plate, create some space in the middle, and add a dollop of your homemade harissa mayo! Finish off the shishitos with toasted sesame seeds and the harissa mayo with some cracked black pepper.
- Enjoy!
